| For many former and current service members, the skills that were learned while serving our country are marketable in the construction industry. The military and the union construction trades developed a partnership to assist these service members in transitioning from a military career to a civilian construction-career, while continuing to utilize the skills they have learned in the military. The program is administered by the Center for Military Recruitment, Assessment, and Veterans Employment and headquartered in Washington, D.C. Direction for management of the center comes from a board of trustees comprised of equal numbers of employer and labor trustees. The unions have a long history of supporting discharged members of the military services as they transition to civilian careers. In fact, many of today's union members are former military active duty and reserve personel. Helments to Hardhats is a dedicated specifically for those interested in construction careers and can provide individual counseling to help you attain the benefits your are entitled to. The local Helments to Hardhats representative will work with military personnel to advise them of their rights and benefits under the GI Bill and other programs.
